Icefjord Tour – Sailing Through Greenland’s Floating Ice

Deep inside the Nuuk Fjord system, ice flows slowly through the Arctic waters after breaking

away from glaciers further inland. The ice is constantly changing — shaped by currents,

wind, and temperature — drifting silently through one of the largest fjord systems in the

world.

As you travel deeper into the fjord, the landscape opens up into wide, quiet waters

surrounded by steep mountains rising directly from the sea. Here, the ice becomes part of

the scenery — scattered across the surface, shifting slowly with the movement of the water.

No two tours are ever the same. The fjord is always changing, and so is the ice. Conditions,

light, and season all shape what you see on the day.

Out here, the experience becomes more sensory. You can hear the ice gently crack and shift

as it moves through the water, the sea often takes on deeper green tones, and the presence

of wildlife becomes more noticeable along the way.

During the tour, we also pass a glacier area where waterfalls flow directly from the ice and

mountains into the fjord. If conditions allow, it is possible to get close to the waterfall and

experience the fresh meltwater straight from the glacier.

If we get lucky, it is also possible to see seals resting on the ice
