Illu Saqqaannguit
About this lodge
Illu Saqqaannguit is located above the settlement of Kapisillit in the Nuuk Fjord system. The
cabin has space for up to 6 guests and offers a quiet stay surrounded by mountains, fjord
views, and open Arctic landscape.
From here you overlook the fjord system, the settlement below, and the surrounding
mountains, including Kiinaasaq, the highest mountain in the Nuuk area at 1,653 meters.
This is a place for small groups who want to stay close to nature with simple comfort and
direct access to the landscape.
The journey starts in Nuuk
Your stay begins in Nuuk. (Departure from Tidewater Steps in Nuuk)
We transport guests by boat through the Nuuk Fjord system. The trip takes around 2 hours
and passes through deep fjords, steep mountain coastlines, and drifting ice depending on
the season.
Seabirds, seals, and changing ice conditions are often part of the journey.
On arrival in Kapisillit, we arrange ATV transport of luggage and supplies up to the cabin.
Kapisillit
Kapisillit is a small settlement in the Nuuk Fjord system. The name means “the place with
salmon” and refers to the Kapisillit River, the only river in Greenland where Atlantic salmon
naturally migrate.
The settlement is surrounded by fjords, mountains, and rivers, with no road connection to
other towns. Life here is quiet and shaped by nature and weather.
Local shop opening hours:
